SUMMARY:SYMPHONY PRESENTS CONCERTS IN MARCH
DESCRIPTION:The North Oregon Coast Symphony continues its 2025-26 season with two concerts in March titled “Adventures in Sound.” The concerts are designed to appeal to children as well as adults\, and the program will begin with Serge Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf”. This classic children’s tale set to music is perfect for introducing young people to the various orchestral instruments\, as each character in the story is represented by a musical “voice.” Local favorite Liz Cole\, an award-winning stage and TV actor\, will return as narrator. \nBefore the concert begins there will be an instrumental “petting zoo”\, an opportunity for children and their adults to play some of the orchestral instruments. \nThe program also features the rousing 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky\, Holst’s Jupiter from The Planets\, Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King\, and Glière’s Russian Sailor’s Dance. Cookies and refreshments will be available at both concerts during intermission. \nThe first concert will take place on Saturday\, March 14 at the Nehalem Elementary School Gym (36300 8th St.\, Nehalem\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nThe second concert will be on Sunday\, March 15\, at the Bob Chisholm Community Center (1225 Avenue A\, Seaside\, OR) at 3:00 pm. \nAdmission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults\, ages 18 and under FREE (children 12 and under with adult supervision).\nTickets will be available at the door only for these concerts. \nThis non-profit orchestra\, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson\, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform classical music for local audiences. DESCRIPTION:Tillamook Family Counseling Center and Tillamook County Suicide Prevention Coalition have partnered with a THS Senior to bring a Campus Out of the Darkness Walk to Tillamook High and the wider community as their senior project.\n\nThis is a wonderful event that supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and their efforts to #stopsuicide. The best part\, 50% of the proceeds will help fund future suicide prevention programming in our area. Yet there is no pressure to fundraise. You can register and choose to participate in the walk without having to raise any money. Yet we highly encourage you to try and raise at least $100 because that earns you a walk t-shirt that you can pick up at the walk!\n\nWant to fundraise? Great! You can do so individually or you can also form a team and fundraise with others from your work\, organization\, family\, club\, etc. You just need someone to register as your team captain then the rest of your team registers under them.\n\nAll ages are welcome to register\, we just ask that everyone register so we have an accurate count for our walk with AFSP. No pets allowed at the walk as it is on school grounds.\n\nYou can register here: https://afspwalks.donordrive.com/tillamookhigh\n\nWe will kick off our event at 9:30am with registration/t-shirt pick up\, a resource fair\, and other programming. The opening ceremonies will be at 10am and the event should be done by 12pm. This event will happen rain or shine. The resource fair and other events will be inside the Auxiliary Gym and the walk will take place on the track. Please dress for the weather. You can walk as long or as far as you like in the time frame of the walk.
