Birthday Bash | Making a Splash and Branching Out

Join us as we celebrate a major milestone — the 20th anniversary of the Tillamook Forest Center!

We’ll kick off the day with one of our favorite traditions: a fish release. At 11 a.m., after a short presentation, we’ll walk together to Jones Creek to release the young steelhead fry raised in our exhibit hall.

Throughout the celebration, enjoy special birthday‑bash activities and hands‑on fun for all ages, including Pin the Cable on the Steam Donkey. Arbor Month–themed games and activities will also be available in our Forest Education Pavilion.

While you’re here, explore our commemorative exhibit, Reflecting on Resilience — a limited‑time display honoring the deep histories that shaped this forest. From labor in the woods to learning in the forest.

Come celebrate our past, present, and future with hands‑on fun, forest learning, and community spirit. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Three Capes Marathon Relay

The Three Capes Marathon Relay is a 26.2 mile course traveling the Three Capes Scenic Loop, starting at Cape Meares Lake, passing Cape Lookout, and ending at Web County Park in Pacific City.

The rugged course, with plenty of hills, passes through or runs adjacent to six state parks, two National Wildlife Refuges, multiple Tillamook County Parks, and boasts stunning vantage points of the Tillamook Bay, Netarts Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. Local spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer participants along, but: “Caution: runners on the road!”

The course is separated into five legs which vary in distances from 4.37 miles to just under seven miles. Team categories include: family, business, school, or Clydesdale. Starting and ending at sea level, there is a significant elevation climb within the course, offering a challenging racing venue.

Cost for registration is $339 for a five-person team, $165 for a two-person team, and the solo marathoner is $95. Every participant will receive a custom Three Capes Relay Medal when crossing the finish line. Register online at threecapesrelay.com or register at packet pick-up the night before the event.

Tillamook High Campus Out of the Darkness Walk

Tillamook Family Counseling Center and Tillamook County Suicide Prevention Coalition have partnered with a THS Senior to bring a Campus Out of the Darkness Walk to Tillamook High and the wider community as their senior project.
This is a wonderful event that supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and their efforts to #stopsuicide. The best part, 50% of the proceeds will help fund future suicide prevention programming in our area. Yet there is no pressure to fundraise. You can register and choose to participate in the walk without having to raise any money. Yet we highly encourage you to try and raise at least $100 because that earns you a walk t-shirt that you can pick up at the walk!
Want to fundraise? Great! You can do so individually or you can also form a team and fundraise with others from your work, organization, family, club, etc. You just need someone to register as your team captain then the rest of your team registers under them.
All ages are welcome to register, we just ask that everyone register so we have an accurate count for our walk with AFSP. No pets allowed at the walk as it is on school grounds.
We will kick off our event at 9:30am with registration/t-shirt pick up, a resource fair, and other programming. The opening ceremonies will be at 10am and the event should be done by 12pm. This event will happen rain or shine. The resource fair and other events will be inside the Auxiliary Gym and the walk will take place on the track. Please dress for the weather. You can walk as long or as far as you like in the time frame of the walk. There is no minimum distance required as we want the walk to be accessible.
If you have any questions, please email Walk Chair Amanda Ferrat at tcscpinfo@gmail.com or call/text her at (503) 812-7444.

Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!

Every Friday, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!
These work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground, bending, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.
Alder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.
