Celebrate Fall Friends Days with Books and Treats in Manzanita

The kids are back at school, pumpkin everything abounds, and the North Tillamook Library Friends are celebrating the changing season with Fall Friends Days in late October. Both events will be at the Manzanita Library and are open to the public.

On Membership Day, Oct. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m., join the Friends or renew your membership. When you do, you will earn a raffle ticket for Cloud & Leaf Bookstore gift certificates. You can also choose a free book from the daily used book sale. If you bring a friend who becomes a member, you’ll earn an extra raffle ticket.

Then on Halloween, the Friends are hosting Children’s Day: Books for Treats, where trick-or-treaters can choose a free new book instead of candy. Books for toddlers to teenagers will be available. Cider and doughnuts will also be served. The event begins at 3 p.m. on Oct. 31.

The Friends of the Library own, maintain, and improve the library building and grounds. Books for Treats is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Manzanita.

“True Story…” Challenge (optional prompt inspo) : Let this photo haunt you. What led up to it, what happens next, what’s under the water, whose legend this is—any story it sparks, in any direction. Every storyteller is entered to win the Pelican & Piper shirt featuring the image itself.

Let us know you’re coming, and if you’d like to share a story, tell us that too. We’ll follow up to help shape the lineup before the big night.

Join Consejo Hispano in spreading holiday cheer through our annual Magia Navideña program! This special initiative brings our community together to make Christmas brighter for local children and families in need. Community members can participate by sponsoring a child, receiving their age, clothing sizes, and holiday wish list, and shopping for gifts to make their Christmas wishes come true. We recommend budgeting approximately $100 per child. As a thank-you, all participants will be invited to our special Cerveza y Chocolate celebration, an evening filled with food, drinks, laughter, and holiday fun. Help us spread kindness, joy, and a little holiday magic this Christmas season!
