CAC Citizens Advisory Committee Quarterly Meeting

🗣️ What a CAC Meeting Is

A CAC (Citizen Advisory Committee) is a local community group made up of residents, property owners, and business owners who gather to discuss issues affecting the Pacific City-Woods area. These committees are part of Tillamook County’s citizen involvement program under Oregon’s land-use planning requirements. Their purpose is to provide a public forum where community members can learn about, discuss, and offer input on local planning and policy matters that affect the area.

🪑 Typical Activities at a CAC Meeting

During a meeting at the Kiawanda Community Center, participants generally:

Hear presentations or updates from county staff or community members on local issues (e.g., land use, development proposals, transportation or environmental topics).

Discuss community concerns and priorities related to planning, development, services, or community character.

Provide feedback and recommendations that the committee will relay to the Tillamook County Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission, or other local bodies.

Engage in dialogue with neighbors and officials to help inform decisions and improve communication between the community and local government.

Grief Workshops with Morgan Motsinger at Tillamook Library

Grief Literacy: Understanding Loss, Reclaiming Life
A four-part community workshop series
Grief is not a problem to be solved or a stage to get through. It’s something we carry, and with the right understanding, it can become one of our greatest teachers. This series blends neuroscience, psychology, and lived experience to help you understand what grief actually is, why it affects your brain and body the way it does, and how to move through it with more compassion, clarity, and even joy.

Each session includes mindfulness practice, movement, real conversation, and tools you can use immediately. Come to one or come to all, each session stands on its own.

Week 1 — What We Get Wrong About Grief

Unpacking the myths (including the infamous 5 stages) and discovering what grief actually looks like.

Week 2 — Grief and the Brain

Why grief is so exhausting, what’s happening neurologically, and why your brain needs delight just as much as it needs to process.

Week 3 — Grief Is Everywhere

Grief isn’t only about death. Exploring the losses that don’t get named (divorce, illness, identity, relationships) and what they reveal about what we love most.

Week 4 — From Knowing to Tending

Grief in the body, somatic practices, an in-the-moment grief toolkit, and the big question: what does your grief make clear about the life you want to build?

Led by Morgan Motsinger: TEDx speaker, mindfulness teacher, psychology educator, and bereaved parent.

Home and Garden Show: Public Safety Fair

When an emergency happens and help is needed, whether on land or water, first responders are at the ready.

In Tillamook County, numerous organizations work together to provide a robust and cohesive emergency service network.

And this year, visitors to the Tillamook Headlight Herald Home and Garden Show on April 25 from 11 am to 3 pm will have the chance to meet some of the valiant and dedicated staff and volunteer first responders.

On the grassy area (just east of the skating rink parking lot) at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds, learn about the services provided by Tillamook Fire District, Bay City Fire Department, Life Flight, Oregon State Fire Marshal, Tillamook 911, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Department, and Tillamook Police.

In addition to meet-and-greets, visitors can interact with demonstrations from the multiple agencies. The demonstrations and interactives are free, open to the public, and educational for the whole family. As some activities are weather-dependent, check back with the Tillamook Headlight Herald website and social medias for updates.
