Mornings on Main Street

Join the Chamber for our monthly neighbor chat, an informal coffee and discussion of things happening around town. Conversations range from events to new business opening and who is looking for help. This is a great opportunity to get in touch with our business and retail community, as well as many of the non-profits, government officials, service groups and community leaders. Conversations are always casual and fun, and there is always plenty of coffee and some breakfast treats. Doors open at 8 a.m., and typically come to an end by 9 a.m. Feel free to swing in at any time within the hour. We would be happy to see you pop in.

Mornings on Main Street is proudly sponsored by the Tillamook branch of Columbia Bank.

New laws and workplace protections: What employers need to know

What should employers know when a leave event qualifies for protection under Oregon Paid Leave, OFLA and FMLA? When can an employer require – or not require – a valid driver’s license on a job application? What obligations do employers have to inform employees when a federal audit is imminent?

Join BOLI learning and development specialist Charlie Burr for a discussion based on recent employment law updates, including emerging enforcement trends and new laws affecting Oregon workplaces. This interactive session will help your organization manage risk and avoid potential BOLI complaints.

Charlie Burr works as a learning and development specialist for the agency’s Employer Assistance Program, where he helps businesses large and small navigate frequently complex workplace requirements. Previously, Burr served as BOLI’s public information officer for five years, providing communications support for the agency’s legislative agenda and enforcement initiatives. Burr lives in northeast Portland with his wife Libby, daughters Marigny and Shelby, and dog Diamond.

Cost:  $25 for SHRM members; $30 for guests. Lunch provided.
